Description

This interview with Ron Owen from Moylegrove is from the late 1980's and is from the private collection of WW2 aviation interviews undertaken by Hugh Morgan during this 80's and 90's.

Ron Owen was born in 1920 and worked in the inspection department of the Rover company's aero-engine division. He enlisted in the RAF in May 1940 and like many wanted to become a pilot. Ron served initially as an airframe fitter before being called up for pilot training. In this interview he describes the 'grading' process which prospective pilots went through, before returning to his previous role and ending up in North Africa in 1943.
