Description
Llandudno's conventional music tradition dates from 1877 when Tyler's Band was engaged to play on a small hexagonal bandstand at the Pier Head. There were seven musicians, men and women, who wore a uniform of trousers, frock coats and pill box hats. It was to this little bandstand that Jules Riviere, a former French Army musician was appointed in 1877 to conduct what became the Pier Orchestra with twenty eight musicians.
