Description
Taken in 1973. The large buildings in the foreground from left to right are the Fernvale Brewery, 'The Bug' a derelict cinema, the closed Penrhys Hotel (all since demolished) and the Cosmo Club. Pontygwaith Primary School is on the right side of the photograph. The railway line to Mardy colliery, Maerdy runs at the bottom of the photograph.
