Description

Jenny Willcock on the left of the photo produced her wash day screen print with the help of a member of Merthyr Tydfil Collage art department staff. The inspiration for the print came from members of the Dowlais Visual Art Group studying a wash day photograph by David Hurn.
Jenny first sketched her design in one of the groups still life classes using items provided by fellow member Angela Lennon and Jenny’s own Laura Ashley tea towel. Her design became one of the ten screen prints on a collaborative screen print project. Pictured with Jenny, is Deborah Carr visiting from Virginia Beach, USA who helped set up the Valleys Re-told Exhibition at Dowlais Engine House in August 2023 where this photo was taken. She liked the print so much, she bought a copy and is now framed and on display in her home in Virginia beach.
