Description
The Synagogue in Merthyr Tydfil by Peter Price was painted for the Dowlais Visual Art Groups Celebration Day at Dowlais Library on May 18th 2024. Merthyr Tydfil has a rich Jewish Heritage and Peter combines his interest in and love for local historic buildings and the season of winter. Renovations are to be carried out on this Jewish place of worship to restore it to its former glory and tell the story of Jewish history in Merthyr Tydfil. The Synagogue was once painted by L.S. Lowry on a visit to the area.
