Description

This is 61, Station Road, Brynaman, now the Golden River Chinese Takeaway. In the 1940s/50s it was the co-operative society, a large shop divided into several departments – butchery, grocery, menswear, homeware, ladies wear and toys. The manager at this time was Mr Williams and the shop employed many local people, these included, Miss Annie Jones, Miss Lona Jones, Miss Gwennie Mainwaring, Mrs Rachel Mary Phillips, Mrs Eileen Bonehill and Mr Popple the butcher.
