Description
Private Tom Williams of Deiniolen, Caernarfonshire, served in the 1st Battalion of the Royal Welch Fusiliers. He died on 28 August 1916, aged 17 years old. The image shows the items the family have framed to remember him: a photograph, his medals (the standard Victory Medal and British War Medal) and his memorial plaque (commonly called the "Dead Man's Penny"), with the inscription "He died for freedom and honour".
