Gunner M. Charles Jenkins, 1587, seved with the 121st Battery Royal Field Artillery. Transcript: Dear Ethel and Ern, Just a few lines in answer to your welcome letter. I am glad to say I received cake and cocoa quite safe and was very pleased with it. We had a nice feed for tea the boys say a bit of English cake is as good as a loaf of bread. I have just been up the trenches doing a bit of work and I am up to my neck in muck but the more muck we get in the happier we are. We don't take as much notice of mud as we did in Winchester. Dear Ethel I received photo quite safe and think it is very good of the boys .
