Description

Griffith Jones was in the 13th Battalion, Royal Welch Fusiliers, which landed in France in December 1915. This letter was sent on 5 February 1916: here are some translated extracts:- Dear Father and Mother and the whole Family Here I am once more with the opportunity to write a few lines to you hoping that you are keeping up as I am. Well, I received the two parcels this morning and was very pleased to get them. I also received the handy little diary. ... When I come out of the trenches this time I will have 8 days of rest and I will be delighted to have it, not just for my body but for my mind as well. Well, I must finish for today by sending my best wishes to you all. I am your son, Gito, Ta ta Mam Bach
