Description

John William Evans (known as Jack) from Cnwcyrosfa, Bethania, Cardiganshire, enlisted in the Welsh Regiment in August 1914. He served in France in early 1915, before returning to England, and then sailing in June 1915 as part of the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force bound for the Dardanelles (Gallipoli). This is a postcard he sent to his parents just as he was about to sail from Bristol, showing his ship, the Royal George.
