Description

This photograph taken at harvest time in Pentre Pant, Ceiriog Valley during the Second World War shows four evacuees, twin sisters Ann and Judith Bradbury standing, and their younger sister Elizabeth in the centre of the group at the front. The Bradbury sisters were from Manchester. Ruth Pelter, a friend from Eastham, is on the right of the group. The boy is Henry Thomas Hughes and the little girl holding the doll is his sister Deborah, nearly hidden in the haystack.
The photograph was taken by the nanny who came with the four evacuees to Wales. They lived in a rented cottage nearby called Glan-y-Geifr Llanarmon. Deborah and her brother lived on a farm a couple of fields away called Twhwntirafon(?).
