Description

These two pages are a typescript with Ann's corrections and annotations of her speech made on 15 October 1981 as part of the debate on the 1981 Arfe Report on a Community Charter of Regional Languages and Cultures in the European Parliament. In her speech she supports Gaetano Arfe's Report calling for the recognition of the existence of linguistic minorities and regional cultures and recognises the important role of the European Community in encouraging the development of all its regions and peoples. She refers to the bitter struggle for the recognition and support of the Welsh language including the imprisonment of young men and women and the lack of support for the continuation and growth of the Welsh language in education and other public institutions and services.
This copy is particularly interesting because it shows Ann's editing process - additions, deletions and amendments.
