Description

This shows the White Brothers fun fair at Barry Island in 1926. The two outstanding rides shown in the photograph are Thompson's Figure Eight, taken down in 1939 and White's famous Zoological Roundabout which was new in 1900.
White Brothers "were renowned for the splendid appearance of their amusements and it was a real treat to hear the two wonderful fairground organs that they had. Indeed they could both delight one's ear with anything from the pop music of that time to grand opera!"

I run a writing group who write scripts for performance on the Heritage Walk run by Cardiff Bereavement Services round Cathays Cemetery in June every year. I would like to do a script on Sidney White. I wonder if a) you would have any objections to this b) you might have any information I could use c) you might like to be involved? I would be very glad to hear from you either on this site or through 'Living Lines' Facebook Page. Kathy
