Description
Edwin Cross sent a large number of photographs to his sister Muriel during the First World War, showing scenes he witnessed while serving in India with the Machine Gun Corps. These photographs of the Muharram festival were taken in Nasirabad on 6 October 1919, and they show crowds, shop signs, erection of a 'temple' and the dismantling of the temple structure, as well as three photos of "Tiger men".
