Description
Herbert Blake was born in Chedburgh, Suffolk in 1896 but he lied about his date of birth ("1894") to join the 2nd Royal Suffolk Regiment before the war. Herbert served in France from about 15 August 1914, but was captured and imprisoned in Germany as a P.O.W. (circa 1915-1918). After the war he stayed in the army as a P.T. instructor.
