Description

Print of the South West view of Ruthin Castle by Samuel and Nathaniel Buck, 1742. Nantclwyd y Dre has strong associations with the castle and it was Lord Reginald Grey of Ruthin Castle who granted Gronw ap Madog and his wife Suzanna two plots of land on Castle Street in around 1435, upon which the original house was built soon after. The "Lord's Garden" of Nantclwyd y Dre was once the kitchen garden of the castle and can be observed on the print as the walled garden to the left of the castle.
