Description

HMS Sylph stranded at Aberavon in January, 1927. The destroyer was driven ashore in wild weather whilst being towed by the Glasgow tug ‘Warrior’ to the breakers yard at Newport. The skeleton crew of four were rescued by the local rocket team. The vessel was later hauled off the beach by several tugs.
