Description

The Tower was reputedly built to house the treasures and archives of Valle Crucis Abbey, which would imply that the original Tower was constructed in the 1400s or earlier. The circular staircase is characteristic of a mediaeval tower but the early use of the building is likely to remain a legend. In the 18th century the Tower was owned by the Price family and lived in by Robert Price. The Ladies of Llangollen refer to Mrs Whalley living at the Tower in 1785 and Mrs Bowdler in 1798, renting from a Miss Pryce.
