Description

The great mansion house at Cwrt-yr-Ala (near Michaelston-le-Pit) was built in 1805. The park associated with the house extended northwards to Caerau. The park’s game-keeper’s lodge was built as a circular house at the bottom of Spiller’s Hill. Local folklaw has it that one of the gamekeepers who lived at the lodge died in mysterious circumstances after insulting an old lady thought to be a witch from Cadoxton.
