Photograph of a Nile river salesman taken by Evan S. Rees during WW1, Egypt

Note on the back reads:
“P.S.
A Nile water seller. Note where he gets the water to sell in the streets.
E.S”

The fingerprint of Evan S. Rees can be seen at the bottom of the photograph, most likely made during developing the photograph. Evan Samuel Rees joined the army at 19 and served in the Middle East during the First World War. Medal no.1669, PTE E. S. Rees with the R.A.M.C (Royal Army Medical Corps). He survived the WW1 and returned to live at home in the Swansea area.
