The photo is a Carte de Visite, made by W.G.Helsby's photo studios in Vale Street, Denbigh. William George Helsby was born in Valparaiso to a family who emigrated from Liverpool in the early C19 and became famous for their early daguerrotypes. A relative, Alfredo Helsby, became famous as a Chilean-born painter. William George, and his father, also William George Helsby, returned to Liverpool, West Derby in the 1860s.
