Y Garth Quarry is seen in the background, where much stone was obtained to construct the new Porthmadog bypass road. The event we see here was a one-off open day so that people could walk the new route. Note the bunding and new planting of trees in mitigation, note also the road has not yet received paint. Note finally just how popular this never-to-be-repeated event was.
