Description

Monkton parish is part of Pembroke, yet quite separate from it. Its origins can be traced to a medieval monastery built on an early Christian settlement. It grew into a self sufficient village and close community until in the 1960's its heart was torn out when a programme of modernisation tore up the traditional rows of cottages and replaces them with a large modern council estate.
