Description

Pembrokeshire is the home of our Patron Saint, St David and Pembroke's connections with early Christianity are all around us. Monkton Priory Church is contemporary with the founding of the Castle and both St Mary's and St Michael's date back to the founding of the medieval borough. Later John Wesley preached here and sowed the seeds of nonconformism which flourished with the building of four magnificent chapels in the Main Street. Even in more recent times, church and chapel were the hub of social life, still strong in places despite a very modern decline.
