Description

19th century(1868) Police Station, Gelliwasted Road....long since demolished. In the background is St. Catherine's Church. This was Pontypridd's second police station, built to replace the first one situated on Sardis Road. The police station is the smaller building to the left and to the right.....the 'Police Court'. I was a police officer in Ponty for many years. When the police station was demolished, most of the faced stone was stored at Mill Street Council depot yard. The plan was to re-use it on a River Taff walkway adjacent to Taff Street. Don't know if that ever happened?
