Description

Dr Mary Eppynt Phillips received this invitation to tea at Claridge's with the Yugoslavian King and Queen in 1944. During the First World War, Dr Phillips was senior physician with the Scottish Women's Hospital in Serbia and raised considerable funds for hospital work in the country by undertaking an extensive lecture tour in Britain to raise awareness of their work. For this, she earnt the Greatitude of the Serbian people. This recognition continued when the Yugoslavia was formed in 1918.
