Description

Andrew Buchan, originally from Perth, was engaged by The Bute Ironworks Company in 1833-34 to deepen and straighten the River Rhymney to make space for the new ironworks. This started a long term relationship with the company - which lead to Buchan managing the Company Shop and setting up Rhymney Brewery. A memorial to Buchan and his wife can be found in St Davids Church - to discover more about Buchan visit www.butetownhistory.info.
