Description

Commemorative earthenware sugar bowl, 'The Bachelors Sugar Basin'. Decorated with transfer printed inscriptions on the front and back. Inscription on front: 'SPECIAL MESSAGE FROM THE RT. HON. D. LOYD GEORGE PRIME MINISTER I have no hesitation in saying that economy in the consumption of food in this country is a matter of the greatest possible importance to the empire at the present time'. Inscription on back: 'Made by the girls of Staffordshire during the winter of 1917 when the boys were in the trenches fighting for liberty and civilization'.
