Description

Drawing by Falcon Hildred
Tanygrisiau Terrace, 1987
Pencil, ink and watercolour on paper
This is a terrace of eleven houses standing on a rocky shelf above the eponymous straggling village to the south west of Blaenau Ffestiniog, beneath the steep slopes of Graig Nyth-y-Gigfran. Many individual houses and short terraces were found sites in this craggy terrain, sometimes fitted inventively round the overhanging rocks. Here the builder provided a morsel of architectural style and symmetry by adding a gable to the middle house.
