Description

This picture, taken from up stairs in the Nat West Bank building clearly shows how the roads of Pontypool were unable to cope with the cars, buses and lorries that became a common feature of live in the 1950's. Shortly after this was taken a major road widening scheme took place with all the buildings on the left being demolished and new large shops being built further back.
