Description
The staff of the Survey Department, British Coal Corporation, South Wales Group, Tredomen Offices, taken early in 1990. The usual complement of staff had been enhanced by a group of mine surveyors from collieries that had closed. They were engaged in the digitising of thousands of old mine plans stored at the Abandoned Mines Department, prior to these being moved to a central repository for the U.K. at Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. Each person in the photograph was given a souvenior copy, as many were leaving their employment under redundncy terms. The gentleman at the front wearing spectacles is David Ogilvie, Area Surveyor & Minerals Manager.
