Description

Grave in memory of John Jones in area A at St John's church, Ysbyty Cynfyn (A80). See plan for area A for the grave's location in the graveyard.

Inscription A80: ER/ Serchus gof am/ JOHN JONES/ TY'N Y GRAIG,/ Plwyf Llanbadarn fawr,/ yr hon a fu farw/ Ebrill 28ain, 1880,/ YN 69 MLWYDD OED./ Hefyd am/ CATHERINE ei wraig/ yr hon a fu farw/ Gorphenaf 13, 1889/ YN 74 ML. OED./ Mi a ymdrechais ymdrech deg,/ mi a orphenais fy ngyrfa,/ mi a gedwais y ffydd.

Description: ER in an elaborate script with swirls leading off. The flatslab resembles the shape of a coffin. At the top centre there is a lozenge containing J J. J J is also found inscribed on the inside of the footstone.

This grave was photographed as part of a Graveyard Survey carried out with the help of volunteers in 2013.
