Description

An Indenture dated 29 April 1914 in respect of Watkin Evan Jones (my father), Church Hill, Lampeter. This was signed by my father, his mother Sarah Jones and the Master of the 'Milverton' sailing ship Robert Rees Thomas. My father was 17 when he joined the 'Milverton', and his first voyage was to Sydney and Newcastle NSW, Australia, and then to Valpariso, Chile. He returned to Liverpool and was released from his Indenture on the 17 August 1915. He then had training at the Royal Naval Barracks, Devonport and joined the HMS Laurentic, an armed merchant cruiser.
