Description

The bardic chair (which is on display at Cemaes Heritage Centre) was awarded to the winning 'awdl' at Eisteddfod Môn which was held in Cemaes on the 21st and 22nd of May 1923. The chair was carved by Emile de Vynk, a Belgium refugee who along with his family was offered refuge in Criccieth in 1914 by the then Prime Minister Lloyd George. The erstwhile PM sponsored a great many of his works. On the Cemaes chair he has carved three ladies in traditional Welsh Costume and a Fleur de Lys with the words 'Ich dien'.
