Description

The Cardiff Borough and town Police force was formed in 1835 as the result of an Act of Parliament - called the Municipal Corporations Act 1835

A 19th century painted / decorated truncheon of the former Cardiff Borough Police. Fantastic condition, hand painted truncheon with Borough / Town coat of arms shield, scrolled VR (Victoria Regina) and Royal Crown.

Stamped on the base of the handle is the truncheon makers details......'Field, 22 Tavistock St. W.C.' (London). Records show that Field only manufactured items at that address between 1842 and 1877.
