Ingredients
- short-crust pastry
- currants
- sugar
- black treacle
Method
- Line an oven-proof plate with pastry, rolled out fairly thinly.
- Cover with a thick layer of currants and add sugar and black treacle to taste.
- Seal with a second layer of pastry and bake in a hot oven.
Cacen gyrens would be one of the cakes prepared for Sunday tea on Bardsey Island.
