Description
A south easterly gale led to the stranding of the Italian steamer ムMaria Pompei' at Aberavon in January, 1956. She was re-floated a few days later and towed to Port Talbot Docks. The only casualty was a local boxer, Bob Jarrett, who drowned attempting to wade out to the stranded vessel.
