Description
A wooden horse and draw-knife are used to trim oak tiles after cutting.
Anglesey is known as the mother of Wales. The amount of wheat it produced supplied several communities beyond the Menai Straits. Not only was it used to make bread, it also thatched roofs across the area. The Museum will thatch the roof of Llys Llywelyn in this traditional way. Oak tiles, or shingles, were also common during the Middle Ages, and will be used to roof two of Llys Llywelyn’s outbuildings.
