Superstar Charlotte to work in food bar
Singer set to serve up a treat for fund

SUPERSTAR Charlotte Church is swapping the concert hall for the sandwich bar tomorrow to raise hundreds of pounds for the Cancer Research Campaign Cymru/Wales.

The 15-year-old singing sensation is taking part in the charity's high-profile Give A Day And Give Them Years campaign.

She will be buttering bread and mixing fillings at the Savoy Sandwich Bar in Churchill Way, Cardiff, at lunchtime.

The idea behind Give A Day is that people give up a day to work in a job that is totally new to them and the host organisation donates their day's pay to the Cancer Research Campaign Cymru/Wales.

The money is passed to CRC doctors and scientists around Wales who are working on new treatments and cures, which will give cancer patients many more years of healthy life.

The volunteer organiser of Give A Day, Ginny Moon, 50, from Marshfield, near Cardiff, is a breast cancer patient herself.

She said: "Who would have thought that Charlotte Church was harbouring a secret ambition to work in a sandwich bar?

"We are delighted that she was able to interrupt her very hectic schedule to support us - and hope she enjoys serving her customers with their tuna and mayo on brown!

"Charlotte is a great example of how Give A Day challenges people to try something new and offers them some unique work experience."

Claudia McVie, regional director of the Cancer Research Campaign in Wales and the South West, said: "The concept of Give A Day is a highly original and exciting one and is proving a huge success in South Wales."

For more information, or to volunteer to take part in Give A day, please contact The Cancer Research Campaign Cymru/Wales on 029 2022 4386.”
