Description

Letter written to Thomas Benbow Phillips at 8, Melbourne Street, Hulme, Manchester by Froes, Smith & Co at Liverpool 19 February 1850

The letter was a reply to Thomas Benbow Phillips's letter dated the previous day, and confirmed that he had been authorised by Froes, Smith & Co to act as an agent to obtain Welsh people who wished to emigrate to Rio Grande. It was stated that there would be a regular monthly sailing for Rio Grande with accomodation for about 50 passengers at a cost of £10, and two thirds of that money had to be paid up front to Froes, Smith & Co at Liverpool before sailing.
