Description

Letter written to Thomas Benbow Phillips by Christopher James of James & Co of Rio Grande do Sul, dated 22 May 1868.

Christopher James thanked Thomas Benbow Phillips for his valued favour of the previous day, and the tin box containing butter for which he had paid 200 milreis for freight; he agreed it would be a good idea for the agent to be in charge. He suggested sending the freight through Sao Pedro unless Thomas Benbow Phillips knew someone who was travelling to Rio Grande. He would try to return the tin box care of Dr CamarĂ¡, and asked Thomas Benbow Phillips to call for it at the Hotel Alliança.
