Description

‘Hostel’ / ‘Prisoners of War Camp’, Eglwyswrw, June 2002.
Built by Higgs and Hill, Co, Ltd in 1942.
It was originally built to house the ‘Women’s Land Army’ then later used to house Prisoners of War, some of the prisoners were sent to work on local farms.
Water was pumped from the well (Ffynnon Fair) at Tyddyn Castell in the village and stored in tanks for the use of the 40 prisoners and staff.
