Description

Evan Evans writes to F. A. Legg and informs him that he was 'not ignorant of the squabble at the mine' but had decided not to mention it 'in the hopes that it would soon be over'. A deputation of miners had come to see Evans but he had told them that he 'could not and would not interfere'. The miners wanted his advice as to whether or not they should petition Mr Legg and take the opportunity to inform him of a 'string of growing grievances'.
