Description

Humphrey Jones writes to his uncle on 12 November 1850 from Chester. He informs his uncle of his unhappiness with his present situation as apprentice chemist in Chester. He complains that his employer, William Higgins, has behaved in a tyrannical way. The previous evening he called him 'impudent' and struck him on the face. Humphrey believes that his employer treats him badly because he is Welsh. He asks his uncle to pass on this information to his father.
