He notes that they saw much submarine activity off Ushant with six empty lifeboats sighted. They saw a ship being shelled and sunk by a submarine.Page 2 Summary :-He tells his father that his ship has a gun mounted on the stern with two gunners; a Scotsman and a Welshman from Llanelli. He is in good health and the crew are being paid off in a week's time.
