Description

The names of nine candidates for the Welsh Settlement's governing council are listed on the voting paper. The voter is required to choose seven from the list and cross out the remaining names. It is also noted that the elected member with the least number of votes would hold office for a year only.

When the Welsh Settlement was established in 1865, both men and women over the age of eighteen were allowed to vote in the election of the council. Although the Settlement was part of the Argentine republic, its political structure was among the most democratic in the world at the time.
