Description

A brass button stick, which, as part of their equipment was issued to members of the Glamorgan Constabulary. This one likely dates back to the formation of that police force in 1841. Equipment lists of those first policemen, shows that each were given a button stick.

A strip of sheet brass slotted in such a way that it could pass over a row of buttons (as on a police tunic) allowing each button to appear through a slit so that the buttons could be polished without soiling the cloth.
