Description
The 1941-1942 annual report of the Executive Committee to the Welsh National Council of the League of Nations Union. A short overview of the year illustrated how wider factors prevented the success of the League. Reference to local branches was divided into North and South Wales subgroups. Throughout 1941-1942, the reduction of membership continued.
Reference is made to a transformation in the international landscape (pp. 9- 10). Five events are viewed as being responsible for this:
1) The entry of the Soviet Union into the war.
2) The Atlantic Charter declaration between the USA and Britain.
3) Closer co-operation between the Polish, Czechoslovakian and ‘other’ exiled governments in London.
4) Holding of a International Labour Organisation (ILO) conference in New York.
5) The United States of America entry into the war.
The initials 'GD' (p. 10) are that of Gwilym Davies who produced this edition of the annual report.
