Date: 10 November 1917

Transcript:

A Welsh chaplain visiting a hospital in Egypt found among qthe [sic] wounded a coloured boy. He was a seaman whose ship had been torpedoed. Finding he spoke English fluently the chaplain inquired as qto [sic] what part of the world he hailed from, and the reply was, "I was boron in Merthyr Tydfil, South Wales."
