Joe
Joe is the chief executive of All Wales People First. He has asperger’s syndrome and he often struggles to comprehend friendships and romantic love. He is an avid Sunderland AFC supporter. Joe speaks about seeing a romantic partner as another person to disappoint. He finds is difficult to understand the connection between physical intimacy and love. “For something that lovely to adore me I must be doing something fairly right (…) the humans I can relate to are people with a learning disability or autism.” Joe doesn’t like telling people who frustrate him how he feels because he doesn’t want to hurt their feelings.
